I have been using BNR2 for sometime. However
recently I have found that selections that I made in the
Appearance-Colors&Fonts section of the options are not saved after

I exit from BNR2. When I reopen BNR2, the changes
are not
there. I hit the 'apply' key after each change.

What am I missing?

Hi Marty
Not sure what to say except that BNR2 is no longer supported. The best you can do is accept what you have got or move onto a new program...(: I still use BNR2 even thought I wish :) I could find a better prog.....I use BNR2 in it's simplistic form with nzb files.....

Newsbin Pro isn't bad, or at least it's where this BNR2/3 junkie has
ended up.

There must be some sort of problem with your BNR2.ini file, my colours and
font settings have always been saved ...as long as the program is closed
correctly. I even have a saved .ini file I use to setup a new install if I
ever need to, the same one named 2 or 3 works for either.

I have used every other bin down loader and none come close to the power
of BNR3, it does take a bit of setting up, as I have always shown in here,
I also have my BNR3 install[s] working as fast as 2 ever did.

There is not really any need for support all the answers any user could
ever need can be found on this list via yahoo or the gmane usenet server.
I am always happy to help, I just get a bit fed up with people in here
telling others to go and use something else, if they are so happy why are
they still here ?

Well I can try to answer for, well myself. I love BNR. It's simple and it does what I need. That is why I joined this list. Since it's been abandoned why do I stay? Because I still hope that development might resume on it some day.

So far I am still able to use it without too much trouble. There are alternatives and if people are having issues with BNR then giving them suggestions on alternatives seems helpful to me.

I've tried alternatives and have found only one (Newsman Pro) that I'd use in place of BNR if I had to. Why don't I just go use it? Because I'm happy enough with BNR to continue using it. That does not mean I don't have wishes for its improvement and a hope that development will continue on it.

But for now, BNR works fine so I'll continue to use it till I can't.

If someone is having problems with BNR then give them alternatives and let them decide to stay and try to work out the issues they have or try an alternative which may work better for them.

I have no personal stake in BNR so it wouldn't bother me if I was the only one in the world still using it. Long as it meets my current needs I'll use it.
